Our Specialty Units

Our Emergency Department (ED) is located on the ground floor, providing 24/7 care to residents and visitors of the Northern Beaches community. The unit comprises of 50 beds and treatment spaces, the large ground floor area is divided into zones:

• Paediatrics
• 24 hour Short stay
• Adult acute assessment
• Resuscitation
• Mental health assessment

NBH's ICU has 20 beds and is located on the first floor. It is a general Intensive Care Unit catering for the needs of the area with key specialities including cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, general surgery as well complex medical cases. The unit also provides specialist care for patients admitted through the hospital’s busy emergency department, and plays a key role in the hospital’s Clinical Emergency Response team.

The Interventional Suite accommodates adult & paediatrics patients, for planned & unplanned procedures &/or surgery.

It comprises of 14 state-of-the-art operating theatres including a hybrid theatre & a cardiothoracic theatre; 2 Cardiac Catheter Labs; 4 Procedure Rooms; 41 bed Recovery Unit; Anaesthetics Service and state of the art Sterilising Services Department.

Graduate Nurses – 2025 Program

Our state of the art facility provides care for a large community, in a number of specialties. We are a newly established facility within Healthscope – and are in the ideal space of growth and innovation.

Our New Graduate Program is a fundamental aspect of growing as a facility, and we see Graduate Nurses as part of taking our facility to the next level.

In 2025, NBH will be welcoming more than 100 new graduate nurses.
