Inpatient Stay
For those needing more intensive treatment, a hospital-based stay at our facility offers round-the-clock care and provides you with the opportunity to focus on your recovery.
We have a voluntary inpatient facility that focuses on achieving personal-centred planning and is guided by our core values of promoting respect, service and advocacy for people with a mental health illness.
Our nursing staff provide a supportive atmosphere and environment with a structured life strategy designed to promote recovery.
An inpatient stay may include evidence-based therapy and wellness programs, in conjunction with medical treatments including medication therapy, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
Our team will design a treatment and recovery program personalised to individual requirements.
Day Programs
Our day programs feature weekly group therapy sessions held at our clinic.
Designed to help you develop strategies for improving mental wellness and preventing relapse, this program allows you to connect with others on similar journeys.
You can participate in our day programs while continuing to live in the community, and many people choose to join these programs following an inpatient stay.
For more information, go to our Day Programs page.

Drug, Alcohol & Substance Misuse Programs
If you’re struggling with alcohol, drug or substance misuse and haven’t been able to stop on your own, help is available at Northern Beaches Clinic.
Our experienced, caring team is committed to helping you get back on track – in a safe, discreet and welcoming environment.
We provide an inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol rehab program to support your recovery. Most people start with our inpatient program and continue to our outpatient day program, which supports your long-term recovery.
As a private alcohol and drug rehab clinic, you’ll receive care from the same psychiatrist throughout your journey with us. We can support people with a dual diagnosis of a mental health condition and an alcohol or drug addiction.

Outpatient Services
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive therapy that may be used to treat depression and other mental health conditions. This treatment involves placing a device over the scalp to create magnetic fields, activating specific areas of the brain.
It is available for patients with depression and who have a history of poor response to, or an inability to tolerate the side effects of antidepressant medications.
Northern Beaches Hospital now offers TMS to outpatients as well as those having an inpatient hospital admission.
For more information go to our TMS webpage

Psychiatrist Appointments in our Consulting Suites
Private appointments are available with our psychiatrists and do not require a hospital stay. Depending on your individual needs, this may include an appointment with a psychiatrist for an assessment, medication management or short or long-term care.
The private consulting suites are conveniently located at our Northern Beaches facility. Please see your GP for a referral.

Costs
We understand that costs for admission to a private mental health facility and related charges can
be complex, so please call us with any questions you have – we’re more than happy to help.
Private health insurance
Depending on your level of cover we can estimate hospital charges, outline how much cover your fund offers, and inform you about any out-of-pocket costs you may need to pay. We’ll need to do a private health fund check before you can be admitted or start the program.
We’re recognised by all major private health funds that reimburse treatment costs.
No private health insurance
If you don’t have private health insurance, you can call our Front Office Manager to discuss self-funding your stay. Please call before admission for an estimate of the cost of your stay. You’ll need to pay for your stay in full upon admission.
Workcover, MAB, TAC or DVA
If you’re admitted under Workcover, MAB, TAC or DVA you’ll need prior approval. Please call us first to discuss. We’re a Tier 1 Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) contracted hospital which means all DVA patients with a Gold Card are fully covered for shared accommodation.
