Orthopaedics

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma provides a high level of care and expertise in the treatment of patients with disorders of all joints and bones. It also provides a modern and specialised trauma service to deal with emergency fractures (broken bones) and soft tissue injuries.

All patients, both public and private, receive the same top standard of healthcare for elective (planned) procedures, such as joint replacement surgery, and emergency procedures, such as the treatment of fractures.

The Department leverages the latest technologies and equipment for optimal patient outcome and recovery. Of note, it uses modern, internationally-recognised surgical techniques as well as robotic joint-replacement surgery.

The team has a wide scope of knowledge and skills which encompasses all facets of orthopaedic surgery, including upper limb, lower limb, hands and spine. Currently, the Northern Beaches Hospital has 20 Australian qualified and board-certified specialist Orthopaedic Surgeons available for consultation. Patients can access services through their private rooms - please refer to the Northern Beaches Hospital Doctors Directory for the latest practice information:
