Dr Sean Burnet

Dr Sean Burnet has been working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Sydneyfor more than 13 years. He completed his training at The Royal Hospital forWomen in Sydney. He has also completed a Fellowship year in AdvancedLaparoscopic and Pelvic Surgery in Western Sydney at Sydney West AdvancedPelvic Surgery Unit (SWAPS).

Dr Burnet is involved in the lecturing and teaching of medical students at boththe University of Sydney and The University of NSW.

Dr Sean Burnet is married and has two children. He appreciates the joysof parenthood and understands the anxieties around childbirth which prospectiveparents can feel. Having been involved in the management of many pregnanciesSean has developed the expertise and skills required to minimise risk to mumand baby and to give parents the assurance they need. He recognises a mother’sautonomy in decisions around childbirth and he seeks to actively providesupport and reassurance to mothers and their partners in this regard.

Dr Tony Bushati

Dr Tony Bushati MBBSFRANZCOG MRANZCOG is a highly experienced obstetricianand gynecologist with a patient focused philosophy and a passion forproviding high quality care in womens' health.

Dr Bushati completed his intern and residency training at the St George Hospitalnetwork and after considering all specialties, he found his niche in Obstetricsand Gynecology. He went onto complete his speciality training through the StGeorge Hospital network, which included placements at Royal Women Hospitalin Randwick, Sutherland Shire Hospital and
Bankstown Hospital.

Dr Bushati held a teaching position at the University of NSW Faculty ofMedicine. He is currently a conjointlecturer at the University of Sydney Faculty of Medicine where he teachesmedical students, as well as junior doctors.

Dr Evelyn Chia

Dr Evelyn Chia is a qualified obstetrician and gynaecologist serving women on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore. Born in Singapore and trained in Australia, she combines an exceptional level of expertise in her chosen fields with a natural compassion and understanding of her patients’ needs.

In 2000, Evelyn graduated from the University of NSW with a Bachelor in Medicine,Bachelor of Surgery and a Bachelor of Science. She gained experience inpediatrics and surgery during a stint at Prince of Wales Hospital, beforespecialising in obstetrics and gynaecology at Westmead Hospital. She trained inlaparoscopic surgery at Royal North Shore and Mater Hospitals.

Since 2006, she has also undertaken teaching and mentoring commitments, including anAssociate Lecturer role at the University of Sydney, as well as training juniordoctors in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Having been brought up amidst the cultural melting pot of Singapore before coming toAustralia, Evelyn knows how important it is to feel comfortable when discussingpersonal health matters. Patients can speak with her in English, Cantonese orMandarin, whichever language they feel most relaxed speaking.

Dr Jim Ferry

Dr Jim Ferry is the owner of Manly Beach Babies where hecurrently practices as an obstetrician and gynaecologist. Dr Ferry is immenselyexperienced in gynaecology and has delivered more than 5,000 babies in hiscareer as an obstetrician.

Dr Ferry trained initially at Glasgow University and qualified as a doctorin Scotland. After stints in Canada and Texas he then worked as a GP in Manly,with a very large practice, prior to specialising, with training at RPA and theRoyal Women's Hospital, as well as further training in the UK.

Dr Paul Fowler

Dr Paul Fowler is one of Sydney’sleading Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is a Fellow of The RoyalAustralian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists(FRANZCOG).

Dr Fowler graduated from theUniversity of NSW in 1991 and completed a Diploma of Child Health at the Princeof Wales Children’s Hospital in 1994. DrFowler trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Royal North Shore Hospital, aswell as gaining experience at Salisbury Hospital in the United Kingdomcompleting his training in early 2002. He is still involved in teaching medicalstudents and training registrars at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Dr David Jollow

DrDavid Jollow graduated from Medicine at the University of NSW. He trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology atRoyal Prince Alfred Hospital where he was senior registrar in 2001
and 2002.

David started private practice in Mona Vale in 2003 and has been working atSydney Adventist Hospital since 2005. Otherhospital appointments include Sydney Adventist Hospital, as well as being theHead of Department at Hornsby Kuringai Hospital.

Davidhas special interests in high risk obstetrics, including twins. He hassubstantial experience in all forms of gynaecology, including Colposcopy. Davidalso specialises in advanced minimally invasive surgery.

Dr Chester Kent

Dr Kent graduated from the University of NSW and completed his specialty training at the Women’s Hospital in Sydney. Dr Kent became a lecturer in obstetrics and gynaecology at Aberdeen University and senior registrar at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital in Scotland. Returning to Australia in 1985, he became an accredited specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist at Sydney Adventist Hospital and has had appointments with various hospitals including Mona Vale Hospital.

Dr Kent was involved in research studying fetal growth in pregnancies complicated by diabetes and growth restriction using MRI. He is a member of AGES (Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society), AAVIS (Association of Ambulatory Vaginal& Incontinence Surgeons) and ASCCP (Australian Society of Colposcopy &Cervical Pathology).

Dr Stephen Lyons

Dr Lyons completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney and undertook specialist training inobstetrics and gynaecology at Royal North Shore Hospital, including a secondment in the United Kingdom at Odstock Hospital, Salisbury. Afterbecoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), he undertook two years of advanced training in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery at Sydney’s Royal Hospital for Women.

Dr Lyons is passionate about education and is involved with medical student,junior medical officer and specialist-in-training teaching at Royal North Shore Hospital and Royal Hospital for Women. He is a Senior Lecturer at the Universities of Sydney and NSW and an examiner for the RANZCOG Membership examination.

Dr Lyons is a Councillor on the Board of RANZCOG and Chair of Education on the RANZCOG NSW Regional Committee. He is also a Director on the Board of the Australasian Gynaecolgical Endoscopy & Surgery Society (AGES).

Dr Adam Mackie

Dr Adam Mackie is an obstetrician andgynaecologist committed to providing the best possible care and believes thatin order to do so each woman must be treated as an individual. To achievethis Dr Mackie draws on his ability to listen to a woman’s expectations andcommunicate with her the best options based on his extensive evidence basedknowledge and experience.

Dr Mackie graduated from the University ofSydney’s Graduate Medical Program and completed his obstetrics and gynaecologytraining at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he was both the Senior Registrarand Pelvic Surgery Fellow. During his training Dr Mackie also completed a MBAin Health Management focusing on improving the delivery of high qualityevidence based healthcare for women. After finishing his training inAustralia, Dr Mackie took his passion for obstetrics to Europe working at theworld-renowned National Maternity Hospital in Dublin as their Labour WardResearch Fellow.

Dr Mackie jointly runs several high riskobstetric clinics as well as sessions as the consultant responsible for thedelivery ward at a major Sydney teaching hospital. His high-riskobstetric interests include women requiring assessment in early pregnancy,women with diabetes and pregnant women who have previously had caesareansections (VBAC) or other surgery that may affect their pregnancy.

Dr Mackie is committed to teaching medicalstudents and junior doctors through his role as a clinical tutor andmentor. He is currently participating in a range of research and auditactivities designed to improve the care and outcomes for a broader group ofwomen beyond those women he directly cares for. Recent research has focused onreducing caesarean rates and improving intrapartum care and experiences forpregnant women.

Dr Mark Ruff

Dr Mark Ruff studied medicine at The University of Sydney,where he graduated with honours. After internship and residency, he commencedspecialist training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetriciansand Gynaecologists. He excelled in the training program, scoring the top markin the written exam.

In his final two years of specialist training, he pursued aninterest in advanced laparoscopic gynaecological surgery, successfully obtaininga fellowship position with the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy &Surgery Society. While completing this fellowship, Dr Ruff also obtained aMasters of Advanced Gynaecological Surgery from Western Sydney University,graduating with distinction.

Dr Sarah Wood

Dr Sarah Woodbury is a highly accomplaished, warm and down to earthworking mother with more than a decade of experience as one of Sydney’s popularobstetricians.

Dr Woodbury has a special interest in risk management and preventattivepractices. Dr Woodbury has supportedthousands of mums and dads from early pregnancy, birth and post birth. Her experience and excellent track record forsafely delivering thousands of babies is reflected in the number of people whoreturn for subsequent pregnancies and referrals to friends and family.

Her patients are her priority, giving them practical, organised,supportive and professional care. Dr Woodbury’s aim is to deliver a healthy baby into the arms of a healthy, happy mum and dad to start their new lives together.

Dr Joyce Wu

DrJoyce Wu is an obstetrician and gynaecologist who strives to providecomprehensive women-centred care. She believes that a thorough understanding ofa woman’s background and expectations is the key to successfully managing herhealth issues.

Aftercompleting a combined Science and Medical degree at University of New SouthWales in 2006, Joyce found passion in women’s health during her resident years.She completed her obstetrics and gynaecology training at Royal Prince AlfredHospital, and undertook further fellowship training in laparoscopic surgery andurogynaecology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Westmead Hospital. She hasbeen involved in various research projects and presented at multiple nationalconferences. She has also provided extensive support and mentorship for currentand past trainees.

Inaddition to her competency in managing both high risk and low risk pregnancies,Joyce’s clinical interests include management of abnormal pap smears,contraceptive advice, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, vaginal prolapse,and urinary incontinence.

Joyce’sfamily influence and migrant experience enabled her to appreciate theimportance of culture in women’s health. Joyce seeks to listen to the women’sneeds, and provide the highest standard of care that is both individualised andintegrated. Joyce consults in Englishand Mandarin.
